Message Guys:

We have been performing well in 9.1 but am weary of migration to 9.2. We have set up a donor computer to undertake this task. Have installed the appropriate HEC-GeoRAS and ran it through its paces. Everything is fine until the floodplain delineation "failed to covert TIN to Grid" object or block variable not set. This occured with a .sdf exported from HEC RAS with data created in Hec GeoRAS for 9.2 and a .sdf from HEC RAS with data created in 9.1. So we killed that theory. Made sure the .mxd was saved to the projection of the terrain to be used. Checked to make sure spatial analyst is good to go. Everything that should be done to get the fp to generate was done, but no dice. Any insight is appreciated.

Also previously (ArcGIS 9.1)we used a document titled:
New installation procedures for water resources applications development by ESRI's Professional Services (water resources group) dated: 6/10/05.

This document made the process alot smoother than most people who didn't use it, everything worked. Anyway anyone know of a good installation procedure for 9.2 and water resource applications: ArcHydro, HEC-GeoRAS, and HEC-GeoHMS?

Message HECGeoRAS for ArcGIS 9.2 is yet to be rigorously tested. This is officially still not available from HEC. The version you see posted at the FTP site was tested on a couple of datasets and we did not run into an error, that is why we went ahead and posted because many users had requested for it. We had users reporting that it ran smooth for them on ArcGIS 9.2. However, we also had users reporting this error - Failed to convert TIN to GRID.

Can you check if you have the sp2 installed for ArcGIS 9.2? For patches check here:

http://support.esri.com/index.cfm?fa=downloads.patchesServicePacks.viewPatch&PID=43&MetaID=1270

Also, try to convert the TIN you have to GRID using the 3D Analyst interface and the geoprocessing tool available in ArcToolbox. Does this work?

This error is under investigation.

Message Service pack 2 is installed and this did not resolve the issue that Barrett was asking about. I have tried to use a GRID instead of a TIN, but Hec-GeoRas still utilizes a TIN that it makes and then needs to convert to a GRID in order to generate the flood polygon. There is not away around this conversion in Hec-GeoRas, and so the program still errors out.

Message WHat is your workflow? It is not clear to me. As stated earlier, we did not get much time to test the 9.2 version yet, this is on plate and will happen shortly. If you are doing well on 9.1, stay there.

Message The main push is that we are going to have ArcGIS server setup, which pretty much forces a 9.2 move, unless there is a method to setup the latest ArcGIS server without moving everyone to 9.2.

You must uninstall all older versions of GeoRAS.
