Message	Hello, I am working on Arc Server 9.3.1. I rebooted the server and now cannot restart ArcGIS SOM service. The service status just shows as "Starting" and I get the following error "Could not start the ArcGIS Server Object Manager service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" Any suggestion as to what can I do to fix this problem? Thanks, Maneesh

Message	hi, provide the details of the installation..like the server o.s etc. well possible solution is that maybe just reinstalling the som component from arcgis server installation disk.

Message	System is Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, Enterprise Edtion Service Pack 2 running ArcGIS Server Standard workgroup. Reinstallation of postinstall also gives the same error. Thanks, Maneesh

Message	Hi Maneesh, Try this Microsoft Support article: You receive an "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" error message when a service that uses the local system account tries to start on a Windows Server 2003-based computer http://support.microsoft.com/?id=886695 Hope this helps, Derek Law ESRI
