Message This is a new install. I have created a service and it is running. I tested it at the ip/ArcGIS/rest/services/InterstateBuffers/MapServer?f=jsapi and it displays just fine.

When I try and create a web application, I fill out page one then go to specify the layer. In the add layer dialog all is OK until I select the service then all that happens is the progress bar in the lower left corner just moves and it will not do anything when I press add. No details are provided.

On what maybe a related issue. When I first setup the server I was able to get past this point. However when I got to the page where I could select one of the default color themes, the graphics with the colors did not display. Continuing I created an application but the layer did not display. The selected colr did display.

Thanks for any insight!

Message If you are using IE8, log out and enter compatibility mode before logging in to the Server Manager application.

Message Changing the compatibility mode fixed the first part, but I still have an issue with the default color themes not displaying - nor the map for that matter when the app is created.

It is a .Net installation of ArcGIS Server 9.3 (will upgrade it to 9.3.1 once I can make it work with a simple map)

Microsoft Server 2008 r1

Message You can try using the Add instance utility to add a new instance and use the Server Manager for the new instance and see if that works.
