Message Can someone explain the difference.
This is a question I have never gotten an answer for and it has always been asked by many persons. If I have a concurrent license of ArcView installed on one machine with sentinel attached, is it possible to install the software on another machine and point to the first machine.

Message Concurrent = Floating, meaning a license manager is running somewhere on a network server w/a hardware key (if a Windows box) containing a certain number of features or licenses for the various desktop products

If you have concurrent licensing, you can install the software on many machines. Then you set up through the install where the license manager is running (name of server).

Last license used up w/trigger a message to other users that there are no avail. licenses when they try to start an application (ArcMap, ArcCatalog) or turn on an extension.

Single-use is tied to one machine and you can use various methods of registering the product (online, fax, etc.) before using it, but does not require a hardware key or license manager install.

Hi there,

When installing ArcGIS (floating), you have the option of installing the License Manager program. Concurrent License is a floating license with License Manager (FlexLM) installed and hardware key attached. With this you can install ArcGIS on another machine and point Programs>ArcGIS>Desktop Administrator>License Manager to the License Manager Server. You can have as many machines installed with ArcGIS but limited by the user amount in the License File.

When installing ArcGIS (single use), in certain countries the installation CD is ALSO provided with hardware key (in Asia)..
