Message	I want to be able to take a table that has northing, easting, and elevation data and create a shapefile from that data. All i could get toolbox to do was to export the data to another table, but i need it to create a shapefile too. I remember how to do it in 3.2 but do not know how to do it in 8.3.

Message	don't have 8.3 but in 9, select Tools\|Add XY data, then right-click on the layer, select Data\|Export data to create the shapefile

Message	You need to modify a schema.ini file in the same directory as your text files. I had the same problem with some LiDAR data. My text files (110MB) had 4 Columns spaced with a " ". Write a file in Notepad. Example [107C07H15_ortho_cxyzi.txt] ColNameHeader=False //If your columns have a header you don't need this line Format=Delimited( ) //if delimited with a " " CharacterSet=OEM Col1=Class Float //Assigns a column header col 1 Col2=Easting Float Col3=Northing Float Col4=Height Float Col5=Intensity Float Save it as schema.ini in the folder that you your text dataset stored. Make a database connection with ArcCatelog to your text file Create a shapefile from XY table.
