||The Text: "ArcGIS and the Digital City: A hands-on approach for local government." (c)2004
The Problem: On page 46, Exercise 1d "Correct digitizing errors and create a topology".
Everything goes fine, the problems and exercises are done and the outcome is exactly as in the text. In this exercise [1d] at page 49 > "Create and validate the topology" < > I cannot do this; the software will not let me create a topology.
I was using the 6 months evaluaiton that came with "Getting to know ArcGIS Desktop, 2nd Ed, updated" 9.0, purchased through Amazon.com, circa 7/2/02005 (which timed-out 1/1/06). I attempted and restarted the entire book up to that pg. 49 three (3) times and still it would not let me create a topology. I am doing these studies to secure a position the GIS/GPS AutoCAD Specialist-Technician positions in the City Mapping and Planning Deapartments of [my Resume has been sent to] TN, TX, GA, AL, and FL; needless to say I need the employment and the completion of these texts is crucial to securing that position.
Could someone who may have had similiar problematic experience with this software, particularly the Digital City exercise data [for local government] disc that came with that book please expeditiously respond informatively that I may overcome this hinderance.
Efficiently, Mr. Leoanrd E. Swanston, Jr
