Message Are my ArcGIS Explorer users supposed to be able to use the Image Services I've published? I don't see them listed when I connect to my ArcGIS server.

Message ArcGIS Explorer doesn't support Image Services.

you must create a mxd file with the service, pubblish and then load on AGX.

Message While that is one option, cascading services is not recommended, due to the unexpected behavior that might result. If you are able to enable the WMS capability for the image service, do that and add it through a WMS connection.

Message I get an unhelpful "Unspecified Error" when I try to connect Arc Catalog to the new WMS capability of my service at http://host119.yakama.com/ArcGIS/services/naip06-2/ImageServer/WMSServer

Message I got closer. I set up a new image service of the same data, this time checking the WMS box. This time ArcGIS Explorer finds a WMS server at http://host119.yakama.com/ArcGIS/services/naip06-3b/ImageServer/WMSServer, finds the service naip06-3b, but then reports that it was unable to add the service.

Could it be that my server is know inside our NAT firewall as web-lamprey, while it is know as host119.yakama.com on the outside? I had an issue with this (http://forums.esri.com/Thread.asp?c=158&f=1696&t=293083&mc=8|) and although when editing on the capabilities tab, I can change the url to use host119 on the right, but I'm unable to change it on the left which is still using web-lamprey.

Message I get the same results. There is a GetMap request failed error returned when trying to request the map in a web browser.I checked the REST endpoint for the image service and it seems there is something wrong with it not specific to WMS. The export map operation fails too. What is the source data? What method did you use to publish the service (include steps if possible)?

Message The data is a mosaic of color NAIP photos in a 9.3 file geodatabase. I upgraded the geodatabase from 9.2 this morning to see if that fixed anything, but it did not.

ArcCatalog 9.3 can connect to the WMS service and preview it correctly, but ArcGIS Explorer cannot. The ArcCatalog tree for the service says it's coming from host119.yakama.com, but in the expanded lines below it is named WEB-LAMPREY/naip06-3b, which makes me wonder if I've created a mismatch between the server identity outside our firewall and its identity inside like my previous issue. http://forums.esri.com/Thread.asp?c=158&f=1696&t=293083&mc=8|%29

I used the image service toolbar in ArcMap to create the service. Then I used Service Manager to publish the service. Located the service in SM by browsing //WEB-LAMPREY. Made sure the WMS box was checked, published the ISCDef file using existing folder WEB-LAMPREY(root). Used the service edit in SM to change the online resource for the WMS to http://host119.yakama.com/ArcGIS/services/naip06-3b/ImageServer/WMSServer from http://web-lamprey/ArcGIS/services/naip06-3b/ImageServer/WMSServer but was unable to change the entry in the web access url box.

Message I upgraded AS to 9.3.1, but had a lot of trouble getting it configured correctly. Ahmed with incident number 778304 found that something the previous installation was interfering with the default instance name in the new installation. We had to use a new instance name. I thought all was fixed but then found that the WMS services would not draw correctly. Under #780634, Vipul B found that the instance name was different in the online resource url from the one being used while opening the server manager. After that was corrected, WMS from Image Server would draw for client ArcCatalog but not AGE. Then Vipul discovered that there is a known bug [#NIM050977 ArcGIS Explorer 900 cannot add WMS layers from WMS enabled Image Service. ]

So my AGE users will have to roll back to an earlier version. Vipul was unaware of anywhere to download an older version of AGE. Do you? Can you get it on CD or DVD? Or perhaps I will be able to have my users use my WMS services with Google Earth.
