Message Hello,
I'm in ArcMap - I add a line feature class that isn't drawing. The geographic coordinate system is NAD 1983. But for some reason it isn't drawing anymore. I right-clicked the layer to open the annotation table and it appears to be intact there. I'm not finding any solutions on the Web that can help me troubleshoot the problem. I've tried to select by attributes and location but no luck. The feature class drew when I loadded it. But now nothing is drawing. Any tips on how to troubleshoot this issue? Thanks!!

Message Some questions to help pinpoint where the problem might lie:

Have you tried to "Zoom to layer"? Are you still in the correct location or has your data "jumped" for whatever reason?
Maybe a stupid question, but: Is the visibility of the layer turned on? Is it symbolized with a visible symbology (not with "No Color" and not with 100% Transparency)?
Have you looked at the data in ArcCatalog? Does it look correct there?
Have you loaded the data into ArcMap (second time into your existing map or into a new map? Does it display there?

Cheers,
Kathi

Message Yeah all of the above. Though in ArcCatalog it won't preview. I think somehow they got corrupted.

Thanks

Message OK, this sounds like there is a problem with your data, not with ArcMap or with the symbology.

When you try to preview the data in ArcCatalog or load it into ArcMap, do you get an error message? What does it say?

If you look at the catalog tree, does your data still show up as a line shapefile (assuming it is a shapefile), or did that change, perhaps to a table? This might pinpoint to one of the three essential files making up a shapefile having gone missing or been renamed. (This happens when you copy or move files in Windows instead of using ArcCatalog.) If that's the case, check with the Windows Explorer that you have a .dbf, a .shp and a .shx with the exact same name in front of the dot in the same folder (plus up to four others which are non-essential).

Did you do any editing on the data, maybe also outside of ArcGIS (like opening the .dbf with Excel)? That can screw things up. Do you have a backup copy of your data, even if it's before edits?

Hope this helps,
Kathi
