Subject Using Command Window To Define Projection
Author Colleen Swain
Date Feb 09, 2010
Message I'm trying to use the command window to define projections on shapefiles and I get the error:ERROR 000602: Cannot set Projected Systems\Projected Coordinate Systems\State Plane\NAD_1927_StatePlane_California_III_FIPS_0403.prj into Coordinate System.

Here is what I'm entering in the command window:
DefineProjection_management G:\projects\Alquist-Priolo_Fault_Zones\CentralCoastalRegion\AlamedaCounty\Calaveras_Reservoir\Arc\CALAR_AP_11_polyline.shp 'Projected Systems\Projected Coordinate Systems\State Plane\NAD_1927_StatePlane_California_III_FIPS_0403.prj'

I seem to be unable to find the correct parameter for the California State Plane Zone III in NAD 1927.

Could someone direct me or help me one this.

Thanks.

Colleen

Message Hi Colleen,

Does that location and file exist? Have you tried using the standard prj location (below)?

Melita

'Coordinate Systems\Projected Coordinate Systems\State Plane\NAD 1927\NAD 1927 StatePlane California III FIPS 0403.prj'
