Message I am trying to convert an ascii file through Vb to a shape file so I can automate the process. I can do it with aml but I want to know how to do this in arc objects.
Thanks

Message I'm afraid you'll have to specify more detail than that. When you read the ASCII file, it is in some format you've made up? I'm guessing that what you'll have to do is read the file and CoCreate the necessary objects and set properties on them. You'll have to create the FeatureClass for sure, as well as the geometry objects that will be stored in the layer, like points or lines, etc.

Message Hi, I Have same problem and wish a solution in VB/ArcObjects.
ASCII-Files looks like that:

'Basic text' (to ignore)
keyword (following lines: coordinates of Polygon)
x-coordinate, y-coordinate (1st Point of Polygon1)
x-coordinate, y-coordinate (2nd Point of Polygon1)
x-coordinate, y-coordinate (3rd Point of Polygon1)
...
x-coordinate, y-coordinate (1st Point of Polygon1 ends Polygon1)
'Basic text'
keyword
x-coordinate, y-coordinate (1st Point of Polygon2)
x-coordinate, y-coordinate (2nd Point of Polygon2)
x-coordinate, y-coordinate (3rd Point of Polygon2)
...
x-coordinate, y-coordinate (1st Point of Polygon2 ends Polygon2)
...
etc.

There are only Polygons(x,y) in the files and so I need for each file a Shapefile of FeatureClass polygon. Basic text contains attributes for objects, but this is next problem...

Thanks in advance
M.
