Message Long story short: true curves are giving us headaches.

Am looking for a way to loop through features, identify those whose geometry contains one or more true curves, and replace that geometry with a .Densify version instead. TIA.

Figured I'd ask here before going on the long hunt through the object model. Any tips for the "right" method to identify such segments?


P.S., somewhat related: is it possible to configure the editor such that the curve tools (arc, endpoint arc, tangent) generate densified linear segments in a gdb instead of true curves? (as is done in shapefiles)

You can use the function below to check if a geometry(Polygon or Polyline) has true arcs in it.
You can pass to the function IPolyline or IPolygon objects
 
  
Public Function DoesContainArcs(pCurve As IPolycurve) As Boolean
  Dim pSegColl As ISegmentCollection
  Dim pSeg As ISegment
  Dim i As Long
  Dim bArc As Boolean
  Set pSegColl = pCurve
  bArc = False
  For i = 0 To pSegColl.SegmentCount - 1
    Set pSeg = pSegColl.Segment(i)
    If TypeOf pSeg Is ICircularArc Then
      bArc = True
      Exit For
    End If
  Next i
  DoesContainArcs = bArc
End Function
